"No Casino. No school funding reform. No property tax relief for homeowners. No Peotone area
airport. No Interstate 355 extension. Other than that, south suburban political leaders have compiled
a really impressive record"
-- Phil Kadner, Daily Southtown, Feb. 27, 2004
Are you tired of our political leaders just "going through the motions" of doing their job in Springfield? Are you tired of seeing the southwest suburbs ignored by Chicago? I am, and so are most of my neighbors in Evergreen Park. When politicians get complacent, people get neglected. I'm running because we don't need more political insiders going to Springfield. We need ordinary people like you and me, people who care about our community and want to give back to our area. My name is Jason Tabour, and I am running to be your voice in Springfield. Take a look at my resume. I'm not some local party guy looking to reap money from lobbyists. I'm a normal guy who cares about this district. I will not sit back in Springfield; I will work hard to the people's business. Some reforms that I pledge to you:
- I will not run my friends or family for political patronage jobs in Cook County.
- I am not a career politician. Unlike my opponent, I believe in term limits and do not intend to stay as your State Rep. for life.
- I'm the only person in this race who has signed the pledge of the nonpartisan Illinoisans for Political Reform. I will honor it.
- I would have supported the removal of Gov. Ryan. I will fight to stop corruption everywhere before the damage occurs.
- I will fight to bring state funds back to our working class suburbs. I am not beholden to funding a party machine.
- I will truly honor the promise to hold yearly town hall meetings. If I break it, as my opponent has, vote me out of office.
- I will vote in the interests of my district, not the way some party bosses want. I am not running on the behalf of Mike Madigan or Tom Cross. I have no special interests behind my candidacy.
